Magnetic floating bed

Designed by Dutchman Janjaap Ruijssenaars, its got enough magnets to keep 900 kilograms (1,984 pounds) floating in the air. To make sure that the bed doesn't float away should it become windy, it's tethered to the walls by four cables. Technically, the magnetic floating bed is for sale, but at a price of 1.2 million euros ($1.53 million), you're not likely to find it in your local mattress store.

Saarinen Dining Table by Knoll

In his purist approach to design, Finnish-born Eero Saarinen sought out the essential idea and reduced it to the most effective structural solution. "The underside of typical chairs and tables makes a confusing, unrestful world," explained Saarinen. "I wanted to clear up the slum of legs." In his pedestal collection, which includes a dining, coffee and side table, Saarinen realized his ideal of formal unity: "Every significant piece of furniture has a holistic structure." Winner of the 1969 Museum of Modern Art Award.

Construction notes: Base is constructed from molded, cast aluminum polished and coated in tough, abrasion-resistant rilsan finish. Tops are available in laminate, coated and natural marble and natural granite top finishes. Coated marble tops feature a transparent polyester coating to help eliminate use-associated stains. Natural marble and natural granite tops feature a protective sealer.

Moooi Paper Table

Moooi designs and produces their modern lighting and contemporary accessories in the Netherlands. No wonder Moooi's collection is so attractive: the Dutch word for "beautiful" is "mooi". A combination of elegance, grace and timeless good looks typifies the Moooi collection. Legendary Dutch designers of note include Edward van Vliet, Bertjan Pot, Jurgen Bey, Job Smeets, Maarten Baas and Marcel Wanders. Museum curators clearly have taken notice as well. Several pieces of the Moooi collection have already been snapped up for museum collections including the MoMA New York.

Kartell Bourgie Lamp

The revisiting of a classic: the baroque table lamp. The revolutionary feature of this lamp is that it is made entirely of transparent or batch-dyed polycarbonate. On the one hand, it is classical, rich and traditional, and on the other, it is innovative, transparent and ironic.

The baroque style base is composed of three decorated layers that interconnect, and the large lampshade is make with a plissé effect, to create a myriad play of relections once the lamp is turned on.

Thanks to a special coupling system on the lampshade, it can be assembled at three different heights: 26.75", 28.75", 30.75". The lamp can be used as a table, desk or floor light and features a touch-sensitive dimmer.

Material: Transparent polycarbonate.
Measurements: H 26.75" | Diameter 14".
Lamping: 3 X 40W 120V E12 (candelabra base) Type B incandescent.
Designer: Ferruccio Laviani.
